On several prior occasions, I have spoken about the need for a national effort to promote effective parenting and parenting education.
Well, such an effort has begun!
A coalition of concerned individuals and organizations has started NEPI, the National Effective Parenting Initiative. Its goal is to have every child in our country effectively and humanely raised by parents who receive the best possible parenting education, training and support.
You can become part of this important grassroots endeavor by visiting the NEPI website and learning about all of the involvement opportunities.
You can also make a statement right now by signing The Effective Parenting Petition to let the nation and our elected representatives know that effective parenting MUST be made a local and national priority!
Do participate. And do let me know what you think about NEPI.
Effective parenting is a skill which has to be learned. For this you need knowledge, experience and also guidance from experienced elders. I think new parents should turn to their elders like their parents etc. in order to learn to parent their kids properly.

Children are what parents make them to be...future is what children are...so parents should be very careful about their own beings to know how children would be tomorrow. With generations passing the lifestyle of the parents are degenerating affecting that of the children too.

My heart goes out to all the single parents who may have difficulties spending quality time with their children, least talk about proper parenting skills for them. If we can equip these group of parents, i am sure we would have cover the grounds pretty well.

I think it's a good things someone is taking such action to educate parents. Most of the problems I have with my teens are due to their friends' parents not taking the time to parent their children. Who let's their 6 year old watch "Saw" movies? Apparently some out there do.

Hey just came across your blog and got to say I have fallen in love with it. You have totally “found your voice”
I have just set up a blog quite recently and am currently finding my “voice” and one of the most useful things I have started doing is looking at other blogs to learn how the “pros” do it.
Any feedback from a seasoned blogger such as your self could offer would be amazing! Don’t worry if you haven’t the time I understand how hectic the life of a professional blogger can be.

You need a license and instruction before you can drive a car. Why not give parents some instruction on how to be good parents?

This sounds wonderful doc! My concern is for the children of divorce that are caught between their adversarial parents in custody disputes so I hope NEPI will adress the issues facing those children and help divorcing parents understand the harm they do to their children when they fight and use the children as pawns or bargaining chips in the game of divorce/custody.
